Family First

My name is Lester Paul I am a young politician born in Guyana. My wife's name is Glenis Paul a young artist born in Barbados. We both share the common goal of returning to the Caribbean with the solid skills necessary to positively impact the lives of the people of that region. Our purpose for leaving the Caribbean's sheltered shores was to educate ourselves, to gain the worldly knowledge we will need to be able to make that lasting impact on our return. Understanding the role that Asia can play in the region is a crucial piece to realizing these goals. Our shared goals, coupled with our specific interests have brought us to your university.

My interest is in the study of law, more directly, how the law impacts politics and how that impact can be tapered to play a positive role in the lives of the Caribbean people. Living in Guyana has exposed me to the heavy hand of politics which has superimposed its will on the judiciary, leading to the ill effects of lady justice picking and choosing whom so ever she favors to escape the long arm of the law. To restore justice to its rightful place in Guyanese society will take someone with vision and dedication to the cause, whose educational background is that of a well-rounded intellectual. I have completed my LLB at the University of Guyana as well as my LLM at Pace University, New York, USA. Given the current diversity of my legal training it's only fitting that I seek further enhancement with legal training from one of the world's most dynamic, emerging regions.

My wife seeks to tap into the wealth of Caribbean art and take it to the new global frontier where it will take its place among the great cultures of this world. She often takes issue with the fact that the Caribbean has failed to effectively use the electronic media to enhance the Arts. With the vast capabilities of technology at our fingertips, the potential is limitless. She has continuously pushed the boundaries of performance and interactive art with the intention of seeking out new methods of artist proliferation and in addition, she seeks to integrate the carnival spirit, unique to the Caribbean, into the mainstream of world cultural art. Testimonies to her conviction to cultural integration are two projects Interweave-The Hair Project and Mad Woman Jammin'. Glenis is enthusiastic about improving her technical skill, and sharpening her creative drive. She sees your program as a perfect opportunity to enhance her skills while learning and exploring in the heart of the Asian region.
