Interweave - The Hair Project Series
2010 – Shengda College of ZZ University
Touch My Hair - Create a Unique Style
Come and participate in this art experiment. Glenis Paul invites you to come and play with her hair. Just bring your imagination and ideas to create a unique style for her to wear. There will be a time limit of 20 minutes for each person. The successful results will all be photographed posted on her website, at www.interconnex.org. The best creations and photographs will be used in future art gallery showings. We are looking forward to collaborating with you, and hope you will take advantage of this opportunity.
This contest involves using her actual hair as raw material to create any sculpture that artists can envision. This action is designed to be more interactive, forcing an immediate response from fellow artists as they react to the challenge of a time limit.
Touch My Hair - Keepsake
Come and participate in this art experiment. Glenis Paul invites you to come and play with her hair. Create a miniature art sculpture to attach to her hair which will not be removed for a year. It must be durable and waterproof. Glenis would like to collaborate with the students at Shengda to create a piece of art to celebrate her time at Shengda and to remind her of her time spent here. The mini sculptures will be on display and there will be a open vote to choose the best one, which will be attached at the end of the event. All of the entries will be kept and documented for future gallery showings.
The second contest invites fellow artist to create unique mini art sculptures to be installed into Glenis’s hair for a long length of time. The aim is to open a direct dialogue between cultures during the creation, judging and installation of the pieces; as well as enable artist to tap into very visceral responses to cultural differences and similarities in the historical and contemporary treatment of hair. The artists will draw on their cultural references and literally infuse their ideas with ours. |
